Field Notes January 2, 2015

Watching the weathermen report the possibility of, well, weather, is getting pretty strange. It feels so fear based and serious.
Spent way too much time driving around doing errands in my little town which isn’t very little any more.

I had a conversation today with someone. I said to them, “you can’t think your way to recovery”. Community, being honest, asking for help, all these things our ego would prefer not to do. Then I read something a little later, “people know what addiction looks like, let people see what long term recovery looks like.” I liked that.

To thine own self be true. And as Mary Oliver says, what are you going to do with your one and precious life?

and Rumi says,

There is a moon inside every human being.
Learn to be companions with it.
Give more of your life to the listening.
As brightness is to time, so you are
to the one who talks to the deep ear in your chest.
